A quote from an old movie
continues to help me stay focused. A soldier had become
blinded by shrapnel during a battle. On his return
home, and readjusting to his new life, he found that
everyone treated him as if he couldn’t manage many
things by himself anymore. After all, he was blind and
therefore….different. His new label changed how
everyone else in the community viewed his capabilities.
Many of them intuitively knew what was best for him;
many of them viewed him as a burden. They continued to
instruct him on his limitations, what he couldn’t do
anymore and what he ultimately had to accept.
However, he didn’t listen
to them very well and continued to tell those who would
listen of his dreams and ambitions. He continued to tell
them what he wanted to do regardless of being blind; and
many attempted to dissuade him. Frustrated by his
wrongful dreams, fearing for his safety, and lovingly
knowing that he was filled with false hopes, his fiancée
finally pleaded, “Why do you insist on wanting to do
things you know you can’t do?” He replied,
“Because I won’t know what
I can’t do until I try!”

When
I begin to feel that I’m getting clumsier I look to myself for the
answer. Why? Because the majority of the time I can track it back to
my “sitting on my butt” too much. If we don’t stay on top of it, we can
quickly lose what we’ve gained. Losing our drive comes too easily;
happens to me as well. Making our therapy, exercises and toning up
“chores” fun is the key. Doing them with “fun” people is another.
Participating in fun activities is yet another. Without these things we
sit and watch… and lose. So … where do you fit within the scheme? |

How many of you can
personally relate to the guy up in the left corner?
How many times have you wished for a magical wizard to
come and make you better?
NICE THOUGHT...but it isn't going to happen...no matter how long you wish for
it! And as for the wizard's magic wand...you already have it!
Here's a clue: That "magic wand" is somewhere inside you already.
You just need help finding where you put it, how to use it once again
and a reason to go looking for it!
The simple truth is, you first need to give yourself permission to go looking for it!I can help you help yourself.
The
information on this site is merely the beginning!
IT'S ALL ABOUT MOVEMENT FOLKS...PURE AND SIMPLE...
YOU CAN
RE-LEARN HOW TO REGAIN SOME OF YOUR LOST MOVEMENT ABILITY!
BUT THERE IS A CATCH.
YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO WORK
AT IT!
It doesn't matter why you are disabled, what the
cause of your disability is, or really why you are clumsy (ataxic),
the only important thing at this moment is
what are you going to do about it!
The information on this site will work for
anyone who has the ability to walk.
How is that possible you ask? The answer is as simple as the basic
information you are about to learn.
I have spinocerebellar atrophy and I started this site to help people with my
disorder.
But that was only the beginning; I've seen these same principals help others.
For example, Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, Parkinson's Disease, Friedreich's
Ataxia, stroke victims,
"normal" clumsy people...you...anyone!
